Yes, I say brilliant weight loss tricks. Why? Because they personally worked for me to lose over 60+ pounds. These 5 tricks also aren’t some magic pill that you take at 2:46AM with ingredients that were harvested and 6:02AM the morning before. Maybe I go too far with my sarcasm, but I’ll be honest, I’m tired of the fad diets and this magic detox or this amazing horse sized pill.
Go with me here a second and please listen to me; not everyone needs to lose weight, okay? You do not have to be a size, 2, 4, 6… whatever to be healthy and a good weight. Literally every single woman is different and the bottom line is this is about your health not the size of your pants.
I have seen many girls who have thin bodies but they are not healthy. Your best life does not come from being skinny, it comes from being healthy and strong both physically and mentally. That being said, healthy and strong is not a destination, it’s a journey.
It’s hard work, sister but you can do it you just need the right tools! Ready? Alright so here we go, here are five tricks to get your weight loss going in the right direction.
Lose the Soda
What’d she just say? Yep, I went there. While you’re at it, get rid of all the other drinks that are packed with sugar and weird artificial sweeteners. If you’re serious about losing the weight – two words, sister: Drink. Water. The benefits of drinking at least 64 ounces of water a day are literally too numerous to list. Drinking water helps flush toxins out of your body, keeps you hydrated, helps keep elasticity in your skin… Should I go on?
Believe it or not “sugar free” doesn’t mean that it’s automatically better for you. Nine times out of ten it has some weird artificial sweetener added to it that was made up in a lab somewhere. Guess what? Those artificial sweeteners can actually give you cravings and make you want more sugar. Those artificial sweeteners also can store themselves in your body making it toxic. We want our bodies to be clean burning!
Now you’re probably saying, what if I don’t like water?
Drinking enough water can be tough. Believe me, I get it!
Pro-Tip: You would not believe how much sugar are in the lattes and mochas we know and love so dearly. Next time you go to Starbucks grab a grande house blend with coconut milk then add a bit of Stevia to it. You can grab Stevia drops on Amazon for just $5.88. Train your taste buds to work for you not you work for them!
Read your labels
Anybody ever heard the term “Abs are made in the kitchen?” It is actually true. If you eat junk, your body produces junk. It’s as simple as that.
You would not BELIEVE what has added sugar in it. Things that are naturally sweet get sugar added to them! Growing up I always saw my mom read labels and she taught me to do the same. However, for the first few years out of the house, I didn’t care so much.
Fast forward to when I started reading labels again and I found sugar in dang near everything. This goes back to point one, but our society has a legitimate addiction to sugar and we don’t even realize it! Sugar is the number one thing that can sabotage your weight loss journey. It messes up your sleep, it slows the metabolism, it makes you crave more. It’s just bad.
Also, when you’re reading labels look for words that look like this : Rfalkwjfvl.
No, that isn’t a typo. Those types of ingredients aren’t food. Nobody knows what it is except the scientist that made it up somewhere. Look for ingredients you can pronounce, and natural and organic ingredients are better for you. Typically your best foods are around the edges of the store in the refrigerators, meat cases and the produce section. (more to come on that in a minute)
Example – say you’d like some dressing to go on your salad. Go for an oil based salad dressing vs. a cream based and read the label to make sure it’s not got mass amounts of sugar, better yet, no added sugar at all. Start reading your labels.. You’ll be amazed at what you find.
Eat Your Colors
And no, I’m not talking about rainbow colored candy. I am talking about the produce section. Just walk over there and look around at all of the goodness that has been pulled straight from the ground. Somebody knew what they were doing when They made fruits and vegetables, know what I’m saying? “An apple a day keeps the doctor away”. We’ve all heard that right? Well, what that actually means is that eating your vitamins and minerals vs. taking them through a supplement.
Your pharmacy is found in the ‘farm’. Get it? So clever. Somebody other than me said that too and it is the absolute truth. There are so many ways that you can cook and eat your fruits and vegetables. Get creative! Eat them raw, steamed, broiled, roasted… the list goes on.
Shake things up! Don’t burn yourself out on carrot sticks. Eating healthy is not boring and there are lots of resources to be able to get a healthy and balanced meal. Eat Lean Meats
Prepare for your world to be rocked; you are about to have a life changing epiphany… Ready? There are other meats besides chicken. WHAT? Get out. Let’s talk about meat for a second.
We all know that the white meat on a chicken is a great form of protein and lean meat. What other meats are a great way to get protein?
- Ground Turkey
- Deer (super lean and SUPER good!!)
- Lean ground beef (94%/4%)
Guess what else? There are about a bazillion different ways that you can cook each of those meats. You can refer The Healthy Cookbook for two I talked about up there! Different meats, veggies, fruits; balance at its finest.
You new this was part of the 5 steps, right? I mean, I have a saying and it goes something like this: “I will never sell you a magic drink of unicorn hair and olive oil.”
When I lost the weight, I worked out and I mean I worked out hard. But I didn’t just go in the gym and hope for the best, I had a plan in place and I worked that plan. My workouts were purposeful, not just 20 minute on the elliptical or a light jog at 15 minutes per mile. I did the work and I refueled my body properly.

Now it’s your turn. It’s time for you to take charge of your life and lose the weight that is holding you back. Remember that not everyone needs to lose weight and not everyone needs to be a size 4. Your goal shouldn’t be skinny, your goal should be healthy and strong. Everyone’s healthy looks different.

Remember that there is no magic horse sized pill that will “melt fat” The only thing that melts fat is hard work and that includes both diet and exercise. Am I trying to scare you? Of course not, I’m trying to give you a realistic view of what you’ve got in front of you.
The weight didn’t just fall off. I made it a priority and I worked it off and ate it off. I ate properly and worked out hard. There will be days that you aren’t motivated, there are still days that I’m not motivated to maintain!
