Fear. I’m willing to place a very lofty bet that when you hear that word you automatically think of something that you’re afraid of. Sure, we like to think of ourselves as big and bad (which we totally are by the way) but at the same time, we each have this fear of something deep down inside.
If you’ll notice, fearLESS is in the title of this blog. Why? Well, to be honest, you were my inspiration. Yep, you, reading this very sentence. The freedom I have found of fearing less, I desperately want to pass along to you.
Let’s Start at the Top
Now, when I first started this blog, it had a completely different name, & the name was “Pounding Pavement with Amber”. I mean, what the heck did that mean anyway? I didn’t even know! But I thought it sounded cool and so I went with it.
However, as this blog has grown and I’m talking to more and more women just like you, I’ve found that we as women tend to deal with fear a lot. When I found out that I was not the only one that dealt with fear on a daily basis, I decided to completely overhaul the blog, coaching services, and most importantly, the name. I went around asking women, I posted on my Instagram, in my new Facebook group for women, and polled and polled and with some help came up with this:
Be Fearlessly Fit – Run Free. Train Dirty. Eat Clean. Live Well.
What does it mean and how do you work your way to becoming fearless? Here are my top 3 steps:
Acknowledging your Struggle with Fear
For as long as I can remember, I have struggled with fear and with being afraid of things. There were many things that I was afraid of, but to be honest, at the very top of that list was the fear of failure. Fear of failing what exactly? Well, it never quite looked the same and I had quite a few girlfriends that went through that same thing.
To be quite frank, a lot of the times I was afraid of failing, I was being utterly ridiculous. On the other hand, there were other times that it was quite legitimate.
Like I said before, a lot of people have a hard time acknowledging their fears because they are afraid that fear will make them look weak. I can guarantee you that you do not look weak. Do you think that Lady Gaga goes out on stage with no fear? No! She herself has said she’s always terrified before she goes out!
But how does she do it? This leads me to my next point.
Finding your Why to Face your Fears
I can face my fears every single day because I know my “why”. My why is my family and my why is you. Yes, you. Someone once said, courage isn’t the absence of fear, but it’s the realization that something else is more important than fear. Your “why” is what is more important. Perhaps your why is a dream job that you have. Your dream job of being a known interior designer (as an example) could be your why. You have to be willing to step of your comfort boat and face your fear of failure head on to take your health back to be able to go after that dream job.
The Lady Gaga example I brought up: her why is her fans, she knows that those people came to see her. She faces her fears and steps out there on stage and rocks a show.
If you’re still struggling with being able to face your fears, really evaluate your “why”. Because if thinking about your why doesn’t help you face your fears, then it may not actually be your why. Really dig deep on this, sister. Your why? Find it. Then and only then should you move onto step 3.
Face Everything and Rise
It’s time to face your fears, rise to the occasion and go out and get what you want. Your dream job? It needs a healthy and strong girl to tackle it. So, let’s get after it and get your body back to where it needs to be. Remember, skinny isn’t our goal. Skinny doesn’t equal health. Strong and healthy. While you’re in this process of taking charge of your life again, you’ll learn a bit of self-love and realize that you deserve your self-love.
